What Do We Say to the God of Death? We Choose Life.
Death is something we try to avoid thinking about—but Scripture tells us it is a real enemy.
From the fall in Genesis to the final judgment in Revelation, the Bible paints a clear picture: death entered through rebellion, fear, and separation from God. But it does not have the final word.
Using familiar cultural imagery from Game of Thrones and The Lion King, this message explores the contrast between light and shadow, life and death, and the daily choices we all make. Death isn’t just a physical event—it’s a way of living marked by apathy, fear, isolation, and lovelessness. Life, on the other hand, is intentional, sacrificial, compassionate, and spoken into existence by the power of our words.
Scripture reminds us that life and death are in the power of the tongue, and that God has placed before us a choice: life or death, blessing or curse. This teaching challenges how we speak, how we love, how we treat the poor, the hurting, the forgotten, and even ourselves. It confronts shallow definitions of being “pro-life” and calls believers back to holding all life as sacred.
In a time when love is growing cold and many walk as though alive while spiritually dead, this message is a call to awaken—to choose the sacred, to choose compassion, and to choose life.
So… what do we say to the god of death?
We choose the sacred! We choose life!
